WRUW Broadcasting at Full Strength

by David Caban

We are thrilled to announce that we have resumed our over-the-air broadcasts to listeners in Northeast Ohio!  The power issues at our transmitter site have mostly been resolved, although there may be periodic outages as the building owners continue their system tests.

We were able to turn on our transmitter again just after 9:30 am on Friday, December 5, 2008, after almost two weeks off the air due to a fire at our transmitter site in East Cleveland.  The fire was on the lower floors of the building, so our equipment remained unscathed, but the building has been without power for about 10 days.  Residents of the 27-story apartment building were able to begin moving back in earlier this week.  During the transmitter blackout, we maintained our broadcasts over the internet, but of course, it wasn't the same as broadcasting at 15,000 watts!

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time at WRUW.  We've been just as anxious to get back on the air as you have been waiting by your radio dial to tune us in. We're happy to back, serving you with our wonderful blend of alternative music.

Please spread the word!
