2008 International Polka Association Festival and Convention

The 40th anniversary polka festival and convention will be held July 31-August 3 at the Double Tree Hotel in Independence, Ohio. as bands include:

The four polka personalities will be inducted into the International Polka Association's Polka Music Hall of Fame at the Awards Banquet on August 2. 

• Michael Matousek (Millersville, Md.) - musician, bandleader, composer, IPA Director, involved in charity projects;

• Raymond "Ray Jay" Jarusinski (Port Vue, Pa.) - drummer, vocalist, bandleader, producer of recordings;

• William "Wesoly Bolek" Borek (Hollywood, Fla.) - bandleader, recording artist, DJ, promoter, tour guide (Deceased)

• Teresa Zapolska (New York) - musician, DJ and polka promoter

The International Polka Association was organized as: "An educational and charitable organization for the preservation, promulgation and advancement of polka music and; to promote, maintain and advance public interest in polka entertainment; to advance the mutual interests and encourage greater cooperation among its members who are engaged in polka entertainment; and to encourage and pursue the study of polka music, dancing and traditional folklore."
